Film photography is a different beast from digital photography. Film photography forces you to slow down, pay attention to your surroundings, truly understand how the light of the scene will effect the film’s outcome, and have all of your camera’s settings set before you press the trigger. My ultimate purpose with film photography is to always be pushing myself to learn more about what camera’s can achieve without the aid of digital gimmickry, and show the timeless feel of the world around me. It is less about what we are familiar with, than with what lays beyond the surface…experiences, memories and encounters forming our life and who we are.
As a result of a world getting continually more intangible, I’ve decided to dive back the physicality of the art-form. This may also be the reason why I put more value into each individual image.
